Everybody Has a Story:Day 1-Nikki

The first thing you will notice about Nikki are her amazingly blue eyes, but that is not what her story is about. This week Nikki will be graduating on Thursday from The American Institute of Medical Technology-but that is not the best part--she is graduating the top of her class--number one, in fact. She will be receiving her degree as a surgical scrub technician.

A scrub tech is the person who assists the doctor in surgery. They do things like pass instruments, hold retractors, and even helps with suturing. It is the scrub tech's responsibility to make sure that the surgeon has everything he/she needs during a case. Talk about pressure! :)

Nikki, however, is one girl who can handle the pressure! Her favorite cases are orthopedic cases which consist of things like shoulder and knee scopes, hip and knee replacements, and repair of broken bones.
